EPC Class 1 Gen 2 Tag Standard

EPC Gen 2 tags are radio frequency identification tags that are used to uniquely identify and track objects. They are commonly used in supply chain and logistics applications. Gen 2 tags such as epc clothing tag contain a chip that stores an electronic product code (EPC) and other information about the object they are attached to. The tags are read by specialized readers, which can be used to track and manage a variety of assets.

1. EPC gen 2 Tag Features
EPC Gen 2 is a type of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology used to identify and track items. It is a standard developed by the EPCglobal organization. The performance of EPC Gen 2 is quite impressive, with read ranges of up to 15 meters (50 feet) and read/write speeds of up to 18 tags per second. It is also capable of operating in harsh environments, with temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F). Additionally, it has a secure authentication system and supports 64-bit password encryption.

2. Function

EPC GEN 2 (Electronic Product Code Generation 2) is an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) standard developed by EPCglobal, an organization established by GS1 and GS1 US. It is designed to provide a global standard for product identification, item-level tracking and supply chain management. It is a successor to the EPC GEN 1 standard, which has been in use since 2004. EPC GEN 2 increases the data capacity of tags, improves the performance of tags and readers, and provides enhanced security features. It is the most widely used RFID standard and is deployed in a wide variety of industries, including retail, healthcare, automotive, and manufacturing.

It is also a global RFID standard developed by the EPC Global standards body. The standard is intended to provide an open, interoperable architecture for the Electronic Product Code (EPC) system. EPC Gen 2 is based on the second generation of RFID technology and is designed to enable secure, low-cost, low-power data sharing between RFID readers and tags. The standard is designed for use in a wide range of applications, including supply chain, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare. It is also designed to be backward-compatible with the existing EPC Gen 1 standard. The standard is based on the ISO 18000-6C standard and supports a variety of data encoding and read/write protocols.

The rapid adoption of EPC Gen 2 chips and their electronic tags will bring great benefits to the RFID tag value chain. Multinational suppliers, retailers and international manufacturers have been required to comply with the global Gen2 standard! In the future, any manufacturer in the world, according to Gen2 standards and production of electronic labels or the corresponding EPC Gen2 reading and writing equipment can be used in the hands of any user in the world. Therefore, the rapid popularity of electronic labels based on Gen2 standards is predictable.

(2) EPC class 1 gen 2 tag, also known as the body tag, is a passive, backscatter type of electronic tags. In addition to all the characteristics of a Class 0 tag, this EPC tag has the following characteristics.

① It has an electronic product code Identifier and a Tag Identifier (TID).

② You can run the KILL command to implement the label self-destruct function, making the label permanently invalid.

③ With optional password protection function.

④ Optional user storage space

EPC Gen2 is the second-generation standard for EPC systems. The EPC Gen2 standard is designed to integrate this technology with practice and meet real needs. The transition from Gen1 to Gen2 brings many benefits. EPC Gen2 can develop a unified standard of EPC system, with higher reading accuracy; EPC Gen2 tags improve the quality of RFID tags, tracking goods better, and improve the security and confidentiality of information; EPC Gen2 tags reduce the interference between the card reader and nearby objects, and can be encrypted to prevent hacking.
